The strange death of Janina Vasquez

On February 19th 2015, Janina Vasquez was found deceased after missing for 7 days. A lot of things don't add up in this case so I'm going to do my best to highlight all the important parts and see what everyone else thinks. Also my first write up for this sub! Anywho..
Here are two photos taken from the casino one two
Here is a map of the area to see where the casino and park are in relation to eachother

Pokemon Go friends! Let's help each other.

Please make note of the difference between a Gym and a Pokestop! Pokestops are everywhere and they are locations to collect items. Gyms are locations where you can battle other trainers to take control. These usually have a pokemon on top and will become very large on your screen when you get close
Please give as specific of a location as possible when you list found gyms.
To keep track of gyms easier, use this simple trick. When you see a gym, click on it. When it brings up the gym, there is a picture in the top left corner that when clicked will show a larger picture and often a description of the location. Screenshot this and you will have an easier time remembering the gyms encountered on your Pokemon collection journey.
Pokestops are too numerous to actually list. This would be ridiculously long if we decided to list every one that we found. They also only give items so they are way less consequential.
Gyms found:
Kansas City North, MO
Gladstone, MO
Liberty, MO
Downtown KCMO
Westside KCMO
Crossroads KCMO
Midtown KCMO
Plaza/Brookside/Waldo KCMO
Raytown, MO)
For Kauffman, see East Kansas City
East Kansas City
Independence, MO
Lee's Summit, MO
Kansas City, Kansas
Roeland Park, Kansas
Mission, KS*
Merriam, KS
Leawood, KS
Lenexa, KS
OPKS
Olathe, KS
Basehor, KS
Please everyone, remember to be safe and friendly. This is just a game and we are all here to just have fun. Watch where you are going and PLEASE do not use Pokemon Go while you are driving. Feel free to PM or post locations here and I can add it to this list. If we get enough, I will keep it organized by area of town.

Job offer to move to Jackson area.

According to the search feature this comes up every once in a while, but the sub didn't seem to have all that much activity so I'll just this post it anyways.... =P
I got a job offer yesterday for a position that ostensibly requires me to be based in the the Jackson area. This is so that I can be in reasonable proximity to a good portion of greater Mississippi, northern LA, and East Arkansas. Lots of travel, good money, and I think I'm going to take it.
I'm originally from Fayetteville, AR but have lived in Little Rock and Jonesboro at different times. I can't imagine Jackson being all that different than Little Rock, but I've only driven through Jackson a few times before. I would love if there were some areas around Jackson with a similar feel to Northwest Arkansas. If any of you know what I'm talking about, I would love some feedback.
I've been trying to read up on the area and a lot of old posts highly recommend the burbs (Ridgeland/Madison/Flowood/Brandon). Do you have any advice on areas to live? I'm mulling over an apartment in order to familiarize with the area, but I'm not opposed to renting a house either. I have a great dog that I'd love to bring down right away but the family offered to watch her while I get settled. I'm not really a free spirit hipster or anything like that, but I guess I appreciate some of the arts and culture stuff. I'm trying to be more active and love being outside.

Rapid fire bullet questions to get things started:

  • What makes the Jackson area special?
  • Would you do anything different if you were new and have previously moved to the area?
  • Best ways to meet people in the area?
  • What is fun to do? Is there a nightlife?
  • There seems like decent stuff within driving distance, gulf-coast, Casinos, etc. What is worth the time?
  • Are there running trails/bike trails/ or decent parks?
  • What gyms could you highly recommend?
  • Best Internet Service providers or mobile networks in the state? ex. Sprint sucks balls in Arkansas, but is great in KCMO.
  • I'm a huge CFB fan. Who do the fans in Jackson seem to favor? Ole Miss, Miss St, LSU?
  • Demographically, are there many young active people in the metro area?
Talk about whatever you like really.
No more wall of text, if you guys have any questions. I'll check this thread out pretty often over the next few days. So feel free to AMA.

Heading to KCMO, need some activity suggestions!

Hi all! I'm originally from KCMO but haven't been "home" in 11 years so I'm looking forward to this trip my husband and I will be taking in a couple of weeks. We have a couple of things planned already but I'm turning to y'all for some last-minute-ish fillers. We're coming in early on June 4 and winding down for the night on June 7 because our flight is super early June 8. We may even head out of town for the day on June 7, not sure yet. We're staying in the Country Club Plaza area for reference.
Thanks in advance!

Check out my weekly KC estate & consignment auctions - something new/fun to do in the metro on a Thursday night.

Hey guys. I host a weekly Kansas City estate & consignment auction in the east bottoms - just east of city market kind of near Isle of Capri Casino, right down the street from Local Pig. 1801 Guinotte KCMO 64120.
I'm hoping there may be some interest generated here (I've mentioned it in a few comments in the past), and maybe you could help me spread the word. We're definitely a small, local business, and work our asses off every week getting this thing set up. I think our efforts genuinely make our city a more interesting place.
Here's the skinny: almost every Thursday evening the doors open at 5:00 pm for preview and I start selling at 6:00 (I'm the auctioneer, too) the auction is usually over between 10-11. Furniture, antiques, collectibles, art, artifacts, oddities, local history, retro/vintage, and on and on. I usually sell around 400 "lots" a night.
It's definitely something new to do in KC, and quite entertaining. It's fun to see what sells for big bucks, what doesn't, and it's probably some of the best people watching you're gonna find in the metro. Not to mention the fact there are some GREAT deals on stuff to be had. If you've never been to an auction before, don't be intimidated by the bidding process - you'll catch on quick. You don't even have to bid. There's food every week, and some people have been know to bring in their own beer . . .
Anyway, check out the website - www.atakc.com. Preview photos and video are posted every week (the stuff we're selling tonight is on there now), and you can get on our email notification list, too.
Thanks. If you make it down sometime as a result of this post, please introduce yourself and let me know!

Going to casino for first time

Short story, i'll be going to a casino for my first time down in KCMO as part of a birthday party. I've never been to one before and would like some pointers as to what I should and shouldn't do. I don't know if i'm going to gamble, if I do it's probably going to be doing slots or blackjack.
